Busselton, WA – November 1, 2024 – Eco Fashion Week Australia (EFWA) is set to make history as it kicks off EFWA 2024 ‘Closet Of The Anthropocene’ with an ambitious world record attempt for the longest sustainable fashion runway on water, set against the backdrop of the renowned Busselton Jetty. This groundbreaking event will feature an extraordinary showcase of sustainable samples from 54 designers, representing both Australian and international talent.
The world record breaking opening parade will take place on the 1.8 km-long Busselton Jetty – the longest timber-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. Extending into the pristine waters of Geographe Bay, this iconic structure will provide a breathtaking stage for designers from across Australia, including 33 Western Australian designers and 4 local community groups, alongside participants from South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, ACT, and New South Wales. Additionally, international collections from Canada, the UK, Italy, Spain, the USA, India, Indonesia, Colombia, and the Czech Republic will be featured, further elevating this global celebration of sustainable fashion.

EFWA is an artist-run initiative founded by Perth,WA based Visual artist Zuhal Kuvan-Mills. EFWA is for everyone and features events in both Busselton and Perth such as fashion art runway shows, exhibitions, workshops, artist talks, seminars as well as Anita Moon Award of Excellence, Upcycle Challenge and present student designer shows by collaborating with educational establishments.
The Sustainable Fashion Festival in 2024 will present ‘Closet of the Anthropocene’ to showcase the collections of 52 international and Australian designers and diverse community groups, who source sustainable materials and textiles to create unique pieces.

About Busselton Jetty
The Busselton Jetty is one of the most recognisable icons in Western Australia. It currently stands at 1.8km in length extending over the protected Geographe Bay making it the longest timber-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Jetty is now used exclusively for tourism and recreation but it has a full and historic past as a working jetty.
Construction of the Busselton Jetty began in 1865. Beginning as a mere 161 metres with an additional 131 metres being added in 1875. Further extensions were made throughout the following 150 years creating the remarkable 1.8 kilometre length.
