Design Award for Australian Students

From Sylvia Calvo Barcelona (SCBCN) we are happy to be present again at the charismatic event of the year in Western Australia, Eco Fashion Week Australia 2024. This independent organization gives the opportunity to Fashion and Textile Artists to present our sustainable work and unite our voices and efforts to transform this industry and contribute to create a better world.

We believe education is key, and creativity to innovate is essential. Designers of today not only have to be creative with their designs but also must be familiar with eco-design principles to avoid negative impacts and ensure that what we create today impacts the planet in a positive way by creating a regenerative fashion and textiles.

Last year we developed in Barcelona a new yarn and textile by shredding the jute coffee bags and made a new yarn by mixing it with other cellulosic fibers. We created this way ReYutCel, a yarn and textile that won one of the Green Product Awards 2023 in Germany.

We would like to provide this material to 12 students so they can put their creativity to work and give life to this natural, biodegradable, and innovative regenerated fabric. The final selected designs will be shown at the EFWA2024 Catwalk, and in Barcelona 2025 during EFWA presentation.
